Marlene Ruby Jaquet, 82, of Oshkosh, died November 1, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on February 19, 1936 the daughter of Arnold and Helen (Muenster) Giese. Marlene married Edward Jaquet on April 23, 1960 in Beaver Dam, WI.
Marlene was a member of the WCA (Wisconsin Campers Association) for many years as she and her family loved camping almost every weekend when the kids were young. She enjoyed latch hooking and Bingo, andplaying Sheepshead, but her passion was cooking and baking for family and friends. She had a number of signature dishes, but the one her grandchildren (and others) couldn’t resist was her turkey stuffing! She loved watching all the Wisconsin Teams whether that was the Packers, the Badgers, or the Brewers.
Marlene worked many years at Weyenburg Shoe Company in Beaver Dam before she and Ed bought the Waukegan Inn in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. They met people from all over the world in their years running this tavern in St. Germain. After selling the Waukegan Inn, she worked in a deli, doing what she loved at Trig’s Foods in Wausau. Marlene and Ed moved to Oshkosh just before their last granddaughter was born. Marlene was proud to care for her youngest granddaughter when she was a baby for two years.
Marlene is survived by two daughters: Sherry Jaquet of Beaver Dam and Diane (Doug) Flouro, of Oshkosh; sister-in-laws Ruth (Ronald) Ulrich and Helen Jaquet, both of Horicon and Mary Giese of Beaver Dam; granddaughters Desiree, Danielle and Deidra Flouro, whom she loved and cherished greatly, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, twin infant daughters Cheryl and Theresa Jaquet; one brother Kenneth Giese, three sisters Shirley (Raymond) Hartl, Eleanor Allen, Bernice (Robert) Evans; two brothers-in-law Robert and Arthur Jaquet; and one sister-in-law Emilie Jaquet.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Evergreen, Aurora Medical Center, and Aurora Hospice for the care they provided to Marlene during these last couple of months.
