Father Martin Patrick Carr returned home to God on Fathers Day, June 17th, 2007. Proceeded in death by grandparents, parents Anthony and Dorothy, brother Joseph, and his aunt Sister Mary Patrick Ferguson of the Sisters of St. Agnes. He is survived by his sister, Mary Patricia, sister-in-law, Melodye, Nephews, Anthony and Shane, Brother George, brother priests, deacons, seminarians, the Sisters of St. Agnes, Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer, the legion of Mary and Gods poor. Born March 17, 1942 in Evanston, IL, and baptized April 13, 1942. Ordained to the Deaconate on March 17, 1973and ordained to the Priesthood March 24, 1974. During priesthood Father was privileged to offer church renewals and youth retreats, in addition to ministering in prisons, jails, and hospitals. As a priest of the Diocese of Green Bay, Fr. Carr served at St. Peter Parish in Oshkosh, on the Diocesan Presbyteral Council, and as a Diocesan Spiritual Director for St. Vincent de Paul, Legion of Mary, and the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer of Ghana, West Africa, who serves at the Place 2B. In 1974 God called Fr. Carr to establish a mission within the diocese – a parish without walls. This includes domestic abuse, homes, soup kitchens, food banks, and a free health care clinic which are all run by people called to live the gospel message of love as volunteers. For thirty-three years, Fr. Carr held retreats at the Place 2B and local schools while running recreation programs welcoming kids. Visitation will be held at the Mother Teresa Center at Fr. Carrs Place 2B (1965 Oshkosh Avenue, Oshkosh, 54902) on Sunday, June 24th, from 1:00pm-8:00pm and Monday, June 25th, from 9:00am – 7:30pm, with 7:30pm wake service. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 26th, from 9:00am – 1:00pm at St. Peter Parish in Oshkosh. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm at St. Peter Parish (435 High Avenue Oshkosh, 54901) on Tuesday, June 26th, pizza lunch to follow at the Mother Teresa Center at Fr. Carrs Place 2B. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 8th 2007, at 4:00pm at father Carrs Place 2B. In lieu of flowers, donations for the poor can be made to Fathers Carrs Place 2B (1965 Oshkosh Avenue, Oshkosh, WI 54902).
