Mary A. Ruppenthal, age 78, died peacefully on November 20, 2016. She was born Mary Ann Goodman, daughter of Ann M. (Frisch) Goodman and Arthur F. Goodman, November 15, 1938, in rural Antigo, WI. Schools attended were Longfellow Elementary, St. Johns Elementary, Antigo, Our Lady of the Holy Cross High School, Merrill, WI and Antigo High School. She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Marys School of Nursing, Madison, WI in 1959. Mary met John Ruppenthal on a Greyhound bus during Christmas vacation in 1957. They became engaged at the Tigerton Dells in 1958 and were married exactly a year later, August 29, 1959, in Antigo, WI.Mary held an interesting variety of staff nursing positions in Madison, Green Bay, Wausau and Marinette as well as Fort Wayne, IN and volunteered for several organizations; Montessori pre-school, Wausau, Green Bay Nurses Assoc, Green Bay Humane Society and the Paine Gardens and Art Center, Oshkosh. She managed the Oshkosh Saturday Farmers Market for several years, which became her mission. She loved books, art, travel, dancing, animals, hiking and canoeing, and writing, especially poetry, which she was pleased to have occasionally published. She was especially fond of the quote, Oh, let us breathe our last breaths, knowing it mattered that we were herethat we had made a difference. (Author unknown)Mary was preceded in death by her parents and dear brother, Dick.Survivors include her husband, John; sons, Scott (Jill) of Denver, CO and Brett (Sabrina) of Tampa, FL; daughter, Anne Ruppenthal of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer and Nicole (father John Peterson) of Sobieski, WI and Landon and Liam Ruppenthal of Tampa, FL.In accordance with Marys wishes, no formal service will be held. Following cremation her remains will be placed in the Tigerton Union Cemetery; her place of peace. Memorials can be made to the Oshkosh Saturday Farmers Market, Karleen Leatherman, 518 West Gruenwald Ave., Oshkosh, 54901.Her life was an adventure.
