Mary E. Spanbauer, age 76 of Oshkosh, died at Evergreen Retirement Community on November 14, 2010 after an extended illness. Mary was born in Oshkosh on July 6, 1934, a daughter of the late A.J. and Lucille Gibson Murphy. She married John F. Spanbauer in Oshkosh, on June 30, 1956.Mary was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish. She graduated from Theda Clark Nursing School and had been employed with Supportive Home Care. Mary enjoyed playing Bridge and especially the relaxing time she and Johnnie spent up at Minocqua.Survivors include her husband, John F. Spanbauer, Oshkosh; one son, Jim (Belinda) Spanbauer, Fond du Lac; one daughter, Pam (Alan) Cross, Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Lauren and Peterson Spanbauer, both of Fond du Lac; one brother, John D. (Charlotte) Murphy, Oshkosh; her foster brother, William C. (Lucy) Plummer, Oshkosh; one foster sister-in-law, Joan Plummer, Oshkosh; and nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Catherine Mary Spanbauer; one foster brother, Jack Plummer; and one foster sister-in-law, Shirley Plummer.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary Church (605 Merritt Ave.) on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 6:00 PM with Fr. William Van de Kreeke, celebrant. Family and friends may call at St. Marys on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
