Mary Ellen Scieszinski, 74, of Oshkosh, is at peace, having passed from us on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 after a consuming and aggressive battle with Alzheimers disease. She was born on February 2, 1937 in Oshkosh the daughter of Leo and Ethel Fischer Poeschl. Mary Ellen married the love of her life; Thomas B. Scieszinski in 1960 at the original St. Josaphat Catholic Church, Oshkosh. Thomas preceded her in death on May 9, 1994. Mary Ellen graduated with High Honors from Oshkosh High School in 1955. She had been employed at the King Midas office and the Wisconsin Axle in Oshkosh. She moved with her husband to Janesville where Tom worked at that time, and then lived in Illinois, Michigan, California, and then Appleton where she was the weight loss instructor for Weight Losers. They also moved to Minnesota and Beaver Dam before returning to Oshkosh, where she was a house keeper at the Pioneer Inn for many years. Mary Ellen also enjoyed traveling with Tom, gardening, swimming, baking, cake decorating, knitting, and collecting plates from places she visited. Her favorite color was purple. Mary Ellen was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Polish-American Association and would wear her Wianki, Polish head wreath and displayed her ethnic Polish banner. She lived in the Georgia Gardens Condos, where she was active on the condo. board.Survivors include her son, Dan Radar Scieszinski; sisters, Susan (Allan) Anderson, and Barbara Spanbauer; brother, Paul Poeschl all of Oshkosh; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Catherine Scieszinski; and brother-in-law, James Spanbauer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church (519 Knapp St.) on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
