Mary Katherine Kubiak

August 24, 1929 — September 5, 2014

Dr. Mary Katherine (Katy) Kubiak of Delray Beach, Florida and Omro, Wisconsin passed away on September 5, 2014. Born August 24, 1929 in Oconomowac, Wisconsin to Thomas and Grace King. She married Robert James Kubiak on August 21, 1954. She received a B.S. in 1952 and a medical degree in 1954 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Katy completed a medical intern residency in Internal Medicine from 1954 to 1955. She was employed at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute from 1955 to 1978. Katy then went on to become the Medical Director at Parkview Health Center, followed by the Clinical Director, and finally, the Director of Clinical Research at Kimberly-Clark Corporation for a total of 14 years. Katy loved to learn. She continued her education, and passed her boards in Occupational and Environmental Medicine from the University of Cincinnati while employed at Kimberly-Clark. In addition to all of her medical accomplishments, Katy was an experienced instrument-rated pilot, who, along with her husband, flew many miles. A most memorable excursion Katy and Bob took part in was group flight to South America in their beloved Cardinal 177B. After retirement, Katy spent many hours volunteering at the Paine Art Center in Oshkosh, WI. Her hobbies included reading, watching football, spending time with family and friends, and greatly anticipated when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit The Farm each summer. Katy will be fondly remembered for her humble spirit, kind heart, sense of humor, and compassion for others. Katy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert J. Kubiak, and children Katie Kubiak (Minneapolis); Mary (Mamo) Kubiak (Oshkosh); Trish Schutz (Mark) (Bethesda, MD); Dr. Carolyn Kubiak (Larry Gabriel) (Boca Raton, FL); Robert Kubiak (Lynn) (Centennial, CO) and four grandchildren, Jessica Touhey (Minneapolis); Amanda Price (Adam) (Faribault, MN); Alex Schutz and Zachary Schutz (Bethesda, MD); four great-grandchildren, Lily, Leah, Lucy, and Charlie Price. Also survived by one brother, Thomas Patrick King, (Atlanta, GA) and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paine Art Center. On Friday, September 12, 2014, family and friends may call upon the immediate family at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael, 830 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, WI.
