Melanie "Mel" J. Rice

Mel Rice, 69, Waupaca, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Saturday, March 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 28, 1947, the daughter of Marcel "Bud" and Alecia (Scofield) Hrnak. Mel was raised in Oshkosh and graduated from Lourdes High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed greatly.

Mel is survived by her only daughter, Shannon Singer, Waupaca; grandchildren including identical twins, Samantha and Alecia Singer, and Hunter Singer all of Waupaca; three sisters and a brother: Michele (Doug) Kyle, AZ, Marcia Clarke, Rhinelander, Melissa (Tom) Underwood, Oshkosh, and Michael Hrnak, Omro; cousin and confidant, Calista Van Airsdale, Wild Rose; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Larry Clarke, and nephew, David Underwood.

A private family gathering will be held at a future time.
