Merle L. (Hey Pa) Schroeder of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at 83 years old on Friday August 31, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.He was born June 6, 1924, the son of Hugo and Janet Schroeder of Ripon, WI.Preceded in death by his wife Jane (Bartelt) Schroeder of 36 years. Jane passed on April 25, 1986.Also preceded in death by his second wife Carol (Anthes) Schroeder of 18 years. Carol passed away August 17, 2007. Merle was also preceded in death by his brother Ralph Schroeder of Oshkosh.Merle is survived by his 3 children.Son: Gary Schroeder and his wife Lillian of Sussex, WI.Son: David Schroeder and his wife Marla of Oshkosh, WI.Daughter: Cindy Herbert and her husband Tom of Butte des Morts, WIStep Daughter: Susan Anthes of Appleton, WIGrandchildren: Christopher Martinez, Felicia (Tom) Hemmila, Ryan Schroeder, Jenny Schroeder, Liza Schroeder, Kent Herbert II, Jennifer (Doug) Walters, Amy (Brandon) Walters, Shanna (Brian) Chynoweth. Great Grandchildren; Olivia Hemmila, Gabriella Hemmila, Ethan Wood, Emma Niemczyk, Peyton Walters, Riley Walters, Mason Walters, Ava Walters and Brianna Chynoweth.His two brothers: Doug Schroeder and his wife Helen of Shawano, WI. and Jerry Schroeder and his wife Frances of Aurora, CO. and many nieces, nephews, good friends and relatives.Merle was a member of Community Church in Oshkosh and a past member of the Sawdust City Corvette Club in Oshkosh and the Butte des Morts Lions Club. Merle was a dedicated family man and enjoyed working for Oshkosh Motor Truck, and retired after 36 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, and spending time in Florida. Merle served his country in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946.A very special thanks goes out to Patricia Jahner, RN, BSN and the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association / Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful work with Dad and our family during the past several months.Gary, David, and Cindy want to thank our father Merle and mother Jane for all the fond memories growing up on the lake!
