Michael Frederick Witzke

Michael F. Witzke, 64, Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born February 28, 1952, in Oshkosh, son of Gilbert and Sally (Lucas) Witzke. Mike graduated from Northeastern University, Chicago, with a degree in Computer Science. He was a very bright man! He enjoyed many hobbies, including: fishing, playing chess, Mathematics, watching the Packers, and especially reading. He also found interest in amphibians, having a snake and lizard as pets. Mike was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.Mike is survived by his mother, Sally (Al) Ryan; siblings: Susan (John) Hazelberg and Charles Chuck (Mary) Witzke; step-mother, Dorothy Witzke; nieces and nephews: Asia (Andy) Backus, Lexi (Jeff) Steers, TJ (Tammy) Eiler, Crystal (Sean) Lori, and Erica Eiler; great nieces and nephews: Mia and Ellie Backus, and Liam, Vada, and Baby Steers; uncles and aunts: Henry and Leroy (Kay) Witzke, and Audrey McBriar.He was preceded in death by his father.Private funeral services will be held for Mike. He will be laid to rest in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. Memorials in Mikes name are appreciated to Heartland Hospice. Mikes family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staffs of Heartland Hospice, Fond du Lac, Care Partners, Winneconne, and all the people at Gideon 1, Oshkosh, for their amazing care and friendships formed with Mike through the years. Mikes life has had many challenges. Throughout he has had a quiet resilience, courage, and a goofy laugh. He will be missed by many. Random acts of kindness are important not only to the receiver but also the giver. No act is too small.
