Michael Arthur Walsh, age 71, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away on January 24, 2025. Born on July 1, 1953, to the late Arthur and MaryAnn (Frank) Walsh, Michael's life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and the enduring power of family.
Michael was a devoted husband, first to Vicki, with whom he raised two beloved sons, Aaron and Erik, and later to Judith. Michael’s family was the center of his world, and he was an incredible father and grandfather, unwaveringly present at his sons' sporting events, school plays, and band concerts. He was an encouraging teacher who helped with homework and never missed a chance to bring his boys to work on weekends, sharing valuable life lessons along the way.
After proudly serving in the United States National Guard, Michael earned his Master of Business Administration from the Lubar School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Michael’s professional journey began with humble beginnings as a cook at Butch’s Anchor Inn, where he learned invaluable lessons about hard work and perseverance. He transitioned to a certified public accountant before ultimately ascending to the role of President at the esteemed Radford Company, marking the pinnacle of his career in the millwork industry.
Throughout his life, Michael was an enthusiastic sportsman, enjoying softball and participating in a golf league. His passion for sports extended to his role as a baseball and basketball coach, where he not only taught the fundamentals to his children and others but also instilled the values of teamwork and sportsmanship. As a lifelong runner, he completed numerous half marathons, demonstrating his commitment to staying active. A devoted member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Michael served as Treasurer and an elder, dedicating his time to the spiritual nourishment of his community. His compassion extended further through his involvement in the jail ministry for Green Lake and Fond du Lac counties.
Michael is survived by his wife, Judith Walsh; previous wife and mother of his children, Vicki Walsh; sons, Aaron (Amy) and Erik (Charity) Walsh; grandchildren, Caleb Spangenberg, Kain (Alannah) Walsh and Cecilia Holdorf; great-grandson, Theo Walsh; siblings, Marlene, Richard and John Walsh. He is further survived by many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
In honor of Michael’s life, a service to celebrate his remarkable journey will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the Walsh family requests that memorials in Michael’s name be made for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause he deeply cared about. Additionally, special thanks are extended to Unity Hospice for their compassionate care and support during his final days. Michael's kindness, integrity, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and community service that will inspire future generations.
