Millard F. Slover, 92 of Oshkosh, died Sunday December 27, 2009 at Harbor House. He was born in Oshkosh on June 14, 1917 son of Frederick and Myrtle Spaulding Slover.Millard served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard PT 11 in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. He was in the same PT flotilla as John F. Kennedy. Millard was a founding member of AMVETS Post 7, and he was also a member of the D.A.V. and American Legion. He was a Freemason, [Prince of the Royal Secret 32 degree] having belonged to Oshkosh Lodge #27. Millard had been employed in Outdoor Amusement Business.He is survived by his sons, Frederick (Betty) Slover of California and Terrance (Sharon) Slover of Pickett, WI; daughters, Tonya Slover of Green Bay, WI and Patricia Gora of California; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Valroy Slover; a sister, Aretta Baumann; and three nieces.Millards funeral was held in private. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Menasha, WI. A memorial to the AMVETS has been established.The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caretakers at Harbor House for their care of our father and grandfather.
