Munsil Williams

September 30, 1926 — November 22, 2017

Munsil lived on the family farm near Pickett nearly all his life. He milked cows and cropped the land with beloved wife, Shirley, until her death 20 years ago. He went on, enjoying his home, especially the wooded acres and pond. He would often be spotted on his golf cart surveying his acres.
Among his only “vices” was a love of airplanes. He learned to fly 50 years ago, set aside a few acres for a grass strip and made hangar space in the end of the farm equipment shed. He and Shirley began welcoming pilot friends for “coffee club” Saturday mornings in the farm’s shop. The gathering became an informal plane builders’ exchange, providing supervision and advice for whatever project Muns had going on in his shop at the time. Over the years, he built a Buddy Baby Lakes, an RV-8, part of a Buttercup and reassembled a Model T pickup from a pile of junk.
His life has been enriched by coffee club buddies, attentive and caring neighbors, nieces and nephews with their families living nearby, daughters, grandchildren and his Christian faith. Though reluctant to move to a nursing home, his last year was enriched by a caring staff and fellow residents at Eden Meadows.
He passed on Nov. 22. A celebration of life will take place Dec. 9 at the farm, 1211 Williams Rd., Pickett, with visitation, coffee and donuts at 9, service at 11. Memorial offerings are suggested at Fox Valley Technical College Aviation or Agriculture Scholarship or World Relief Fox Valley. More information and condolences can be shared at konrad-behlman.com.
