Muriel M. Mimi Gafner, 90 of Oshkosh, died at Theda Clark Medical Center on Tuesday September 18, 2007. She was born in Richland Center, WI on May 11, 1917, a daughter of Herbert and Agnes Clark Starkey. Mimi married Jacob Gafner on June 28, 1955 in Oshkosh. Jake preceded her in death on March 31, 2004.Muriel owned and operated the Oshkosh Country Day School for over 40 years. It was the first day care in Oshkosh. She also owned and operated the Treasure Shop Antiques in Oshkosh for many years. Muriel is survived by two sons Jon (Gloria Rose) Gafner, Oshkosh; Dean (Rose) Gafner, Oshkosh; one daughter, Barbara (Stan) Ziblut, Oshkosh; two step sons, Ron Gafner, Milwaukee; Douglas Gafner, Oshkosh; step daughter, Joan Binder, Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Austin and Otis Gafner, Steve (Gina) Ziblut and Kristin (Christopher) Baeten; two great grandchildren, Samantha Baeten and Kendall Ziblut; two brothers-in-law, Fred Gafner, Spokane, WA; Arnie (Marge) Gafner, Mesa, AZ; four sisters-in-law, Marie Kimmel, Brownsville, WI; Helen Lord Burr, Oshkosh; Ruth (Don) Denow, Oshkosh and Florence Dickey, Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Miriam Van Vuren.Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel United Church of Christ on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. R. David Gaskill officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial to the Billy Graham Ministries or the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children has been established.
