Neil Edward Lorge, age 93, passed away on July 29, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. Neil was born on June 27, 1922, in Oshkosh, WI to John and Martha (Radtke) Lorge. Neil married Betty E. Stone on January 1, 1942; she later preceded him in death in 1989. He remarried on March 15, 1990 to Jean (Hillenbrand) Sitter who also preceded him in death.Neil was an officer in the Air Force and served in 1944 as a pilot in France during WWII and the European Theatre. Upon returning from the war, Neil worked at Wilson Music Co. for 42 years as an on the job trainer and ultimately dealer principal with longtime business associate Allan Eckstein. He was also the owner of A&N Mobility and was a teacher/lecturer and free tutor at the Oshkosh Technical College and at UW-Oshkosh. Neil served as the president for many community organizations such as Oshkosh Optimist Club, Friends of the Oshkosh Public Library, and the Oshkosh Downtown Association. Neil was a member of numerous boards here in Oshkosh and was a chairman or- co-chairman of a majority of them. The committees include the initial Pollack Pool Fund Drive, Industrial & Development Committee-member, Town of Oshkosh Sewer Commissioner- Secretary (10 year member), Community Chest Drive, the new Senior Center, BIC- member, Walkway West Project, 1st Fund Drive for the New Library, the Library Board - member, and the WinneFox Board - member. Neil had many hobbies including playing golf, hunting, fishing, languages, reading, and making doll houses. Neil was highly renowned for his membership at Calvary Lutheran Church. He was active in the church council and was a leader in bible studies. Neil was devoted to God, church, family, friends, and his community. He also loved to work in his garden and help others whenever he could. He was survived by his children, Thomas (Gail), of Oshkosh, Steven (Joan), of IA, and John (Becky) Lorge, of CA; grandchildren, Heather (John) Jenkins, IN, Kristin (Brian) Boulter, Oshkosh, Chad Lorge, Oshkosh, and Shelly (Marshall) Robinson, FL; and twelve great grandchildren. He is further survived by five step children, Craig Sitter, Oshkosh, Kat Hughes, Milwaukee, Steve Sitter (Gabriela), Tom Sitter, Oshkosh, and David (Amy) Sitter, Oshkosh; and nine step grandchildren. Neil was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Betty and Jean; and sister, Vivian March.A memorial service for Neil will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-(Westside) with Rev. Bob Rosenberg officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.Neils family would like to send a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses with the ICU at Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided and also to Jennifer Sitter for all her love to Neil.
