Neil R. Davies, 78, of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Monday October 26, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on June 6, 1931 a son of H. Jeremy and Hallie Davies. He married Karen Ristow on March 22, 1980.He attended and graduated from Oshkosh Area Schools. He also graduated from Farm Short Course at the University of Wisconsin and in 1962 he graduated from Wisconsin State University at Oshkosh. He was employed by a Veterinary Biologic firm in Grafton, owned and operated Pinewood Gardens in Oshkosh and worked for the City of Oshkosh Forestry, Wastewater, and Cemetery Divisions before retiring in 1993. He was a Boy Scout leader, member of Oshkosh Auxiliary Police, American Legion from 1952 to present, and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp being released as a staff sergeant. He enjoyed hunting and hiking. He especially enjoyed his tree farm that he started in 1958, pine trees were planted and harvested over the years. He observed many deer and turkey from his small cabin on the tree farm. Neil greatly enjoyed Doug Zellmers articles about growing up on a farm bringing back his own memories of growing up on a farm. Neil enjoyed sharing and anonymously picked up the tab for a stranger at a restaurant as a pick me up for someone he didnt know. Neil was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Karen Davies of Oshkosh, one son Bret (Laurie) of Mauston and their children Amber, Spencer, and Rachel, one step-son Daniel Paulick of New Brighton, MN., one step-daughter Rebecca Paulick of Oshkosh, one sister Phyllis (Philip) Edmunds of Beltsville, MD., three sisters-in-law Debbie (Mark) Toland of Oshkosh, Cherie Ristow of Centennial, CO., Shirley (Russell) Carpenter of Oshkosh, also many cousins and friends Funeral services will be held on Saturday Oct. 31, 2009 at noon at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside with Rev. Kemp Jones officiating. Visitation will be held at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you donate to the organization of your choice. A special thank you to the code blue team from Aurora 2 West, for their persistent effort and Dr. Turner for all her dedication
