Norman Bucky Bernard Walters Jr., 83, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Century Oaks. He was born on May 14, 1929 in Fond du Lac, a son of Norman Carl, Sr. and Marian Hoey Walters. He married Margaret Ann Dunn on December 26, 1953 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1986.He is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Santin, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mary (Will) Walters Eyestone, Blacksburg, Virginia; Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Phillips, Verona, Wisconsin; Lisa Walters, Blacksburg, Virginia; a son, Peter Walters, Venice Beach, California; a brother, Donald Walters, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Marie (Vincent) Hicks, Roanoke, Virginia; Nathaniel, Emily, and Christopher Eyestone, Blacksburg, Virginia; Peter and Madeline Santin, Phoenix, Arizona; Meghan and Sean Phillips, Verona, Wisconsin. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Mark Anthony Walters; one sister, Elaine Farrell; and one brother, Stanley Walters.He was a prominent and active member of the community where he owned and operated two grocery stores in Oshkosh, Walters Food Towne and Buckys Food Center. He was a lifetime member and officer in the Oshkosh Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He supported many local organizations including the Salvation Army and Oshkosh Little League. He was a parishioner of both St. Marys and St. Peters Catholic Churches. Bucky never met a stranger. His greatest enjoyments in life were the many friends he made along the way. He loved his weekly bowling and card clubs, but more than anything Bucky loved people. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church-Most Blessed Sacrament Parish with Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation for Bucky will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. An Elks service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. There will be a reception at the Oshkosh Elks Lodge following the burial for family and friends.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Oshkosh Elks Lodge.The family would like to thank the staff at Century Oaks and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
