Norman Neil Gagnon, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was born to the late Paul and Georgiana (Belisle) Gagnon in Two Rivers on March 6, 1927. He enlisted in the United States Navy at seventeen and served his country in World War II. After returning home, he completed high school and then studied accounting at Spencerian Business School. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Lois Mosuch, on May 26, 1951 in Two Rivers. He spent his entire career as a corporate revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He also continued his military service in the Army Reserves, serving in the Red Arrow Division based in Green Bay. He retired as a Major in 1987.
He was a man who not only believed in his faith, but truly lived his life by it. Norman volunteered his time liberally. He was particularly involved with the Knights of Columbus, earning the rank of Fourth Degree Knight. He was involved with a number of knights of Columbus projects and really enjoyed calling bingo every week. He also sold a lot of tootsie rolls! He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Mary’s.
Norman loved life, expressed by the permanent smile on his face, and was quick to make friends. He enjoyed road trips and family vacations. He loved playing cards, bowling, gardening, hiking, fishing, and hunting. He had a bit of a sweet tooth and always had a candy or two in his pocket. Norman loved all holidays and delighted in requiring trick or treaters to perform for their treats. His home also almost always included a dog as a beloved member of the family.
He is survived by his wife, Lois. He was very proud of his family including his three children, Kay (Daniel) Lapin, William Gagnon and Jane (Jay) Baxter. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Carly Lapin, Justin Lapin, Matthew Gagnon, Alec Gagnon, & William “Charlie” Gagnon and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his brothers, Darriol (Margaret) Gagnon and Alfred Gagnon.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Mary’s (605 Merrit Ave) on Thursday April 26, 2018 at noon. A visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service. Father Jerry Pastors will be officiating.
