Dr. Nyal M. Scheuermann, age 90, of Oshkosh passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. He was born on March 5, 1923 a son of the late George and Katherine (Goerlitz) Scheuermann. On July 7, 1951 in Oshkosh, WI he married Miss Beverly Jean Steinhilber.Nyal graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1941. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Sgt. surgical technician from 1943 to 1946 a part of the 41st station hospital group. During his time served in Iwo Jima he was awarded many accommodations. These included the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Medical Badge 1st award, and the Honorable Service Lapel button WWII. When Nyal returned he went on to graduate from Marquette University School of Medicine in 1954. He interned at Mercy Medical Center and practiced with Dr. William Wagner from 1955 to 1968. Nyal was a member of AMA (American Medical Association), Wisconsin Medical Society, Winnebago Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, and was an appointed to the Aerospace Medical Association as a Federal Aviation Medical Examiner for 25 years along with Fellow American Academy of Family Physicians. Nyal also served his time being a physician at Mercy Medical Center for 33 years. He was also a faithful and active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.He is survived by his wife, Beverly Scheuermann, of Oshkosh; his two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Calliari and Peggy (Jack) Stuyvenberg; his two sons, George Scheuermann and William (Meredith) Scheuermann. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph (Kimberly) Calliari, John Calliari, Katie, Abbey, and Molly Stuyvenberg, and Katrina, Maria, and William Scheuermann; great grandchild, Madelyn Calliari, as well as other family members, nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends.Nyal is preceded by his parents; his brothers William, George, Henry, and Edwin Scheuermann; and his sisters Katherine Langkau, Pauline Frandsen, and Eleanor Bloechl.Funeral services for Nyal will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church (1860 Wisconsin St.) with Rev. John Czarnota officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial has been established.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Curtis Radford, and Dr. Robert Weber, and the staff at Mercy Medical Center, and the most recent the staff at Park View Health Center for taking care of Nyal.
