Omar Kutz, age 93, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born May 20, 1927 in Fond Du Lac County, the son of Frederic and Leona (Heilsberg) Kutz. On May 28, 1949 he married Marilyn Hanneman in Berlin, Wisconsin.
Omar was a proud Navy veteran of WWII. He served on the USS Curtis in the South Pacific. He had an innate talent to fix nearly anything and used this talent working as a service manager for Sears before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, golfing, travel and playing cards with friends and family. He was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Catholic Church bingo and Salvatorian Mission in New Holstein. Omar was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.
He is survived by children: Nancy Netys, Sara Kutz, David (Kathryn) Kutz, and Timothy Kutz; seven grandchildren: Anna Netys, Aleena (Lloyd) Volz, Michael Netys, Adam (Sarah) Netys, Gregor Carl Netys, Eagan Kutz, and Olivia Kutz, eight great-grandchildren: Jordon, Juliana, Ethan, Gwendolyn, Hanah, Jack, Jarod, and Elizabeth. He is further survived by his brothers Richard Kutz of Ripon, and Walter (Sue) Kutz of Rosendale; sisters-in-law Irene Kutz of Markesan and Donna Kutz of Middleton; brother-in-law Theron Crump of Berlin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marilyn, son Thomas, parents, six brothers (Orin, Leonard, Delbert, Theodore, Ivan, Donald) and three sisters (Virginia, Elnora, Dora).
A Memorial Mass for Omar will be held on Tuesday February 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Long officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Masks will be required at the church for the visitation and service. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aurora Medical Center for their compassion.
A memorial in Omar’s name will be established.
