Orva Etta Derber

January 7, 1920 — June 18, 2012

Orva Etta Derber, age 92, of Oshkosh, formerly Omro, died at Lakeshore Manor on Tuesday, June 18, 2012. She was born in the town of Omro on January 7, 1920, a daughter of the late Alfred and Elsie Busse Altmann. Orva was united in marriage to Leon Derber in Oshkosh on February 25, 1944.Orva graduated from Omro High School and attended Oshkosh Business College. Along with her husband, owned Wisconsin Tubing; serving on the board and as the office manager. She was active with People to People, an agricultural group that traveled to foreign countries, the Timber Toppers Square Dance Club, and the West Homemakers. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School for many years.Survivors include her husband of over 68 years, Leon Derber, Oshkosh; two sons, Paul A. Derber of Omro; Gary L. (Stormie) Derber, Oshkosh; one daughter, Beth Ann (Lance) Treptow of Omro; one brother, Gordon (Elaine) Altmann of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Ryan Derber of Oshkosh; Raechel Derber of Oshkosh; Linda Derber of Omro; and one great grandson, Jackson Todd of Oshkosh.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jeffrey Berg officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial to the Alzheimers Association is being established.Special thanks to the staff at Lakeshore Manor and Generations Hospice for their compassionate care and support given to Orva and her family.
