Patricia Ann (Vogels) Medtlie, age 84, of Oshkosh, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 04, 2013 at Evergreen Manor. She was born on December 28, 1928 in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Theodore (TP) and Mary (Mayme) (Zeutzius) Vogels. She married Arthur (Bud) Medtlie on June 16, 1951 in Green Bay. Pat lived for over 50 years in Menomonie, WI with her husband and children. Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Bud, on November 7, 1983; her mother, Mayme, in December of 1989; and her father, TP, in December of 1990.Pat was a stay-at-home mom for many years and cared for her extended family with love. She graduated from UW Stout in 1951 with a degree in Home Economics, putting that degree to good use creating wonderful meals, sewing the majority of her own clothes, knitting sweaters for family and friends, and later making draperies with her good friend, Catherine Eiseth. Pat had a wonderful circle of friends with whom she played Bridge, Euchre, Scrabble, and Spite and Malice. Growing up on the East side of Green Bay, she became an avid life-long Green Bay Packer fan. She was also very active at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Menomonie, WI.The Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater in Menomonie was a passion. Pat served on the board for more than 20 years in a variety of capacities including Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Pat worked for Rural Insurance and Farm Bureau for many years while caring for Bud. She moved to Oshkosh in 2002 to be closer to her children. She joined St. Jude the Apostle church when she came to Oshkosh. Pat spent the last years of her life enjoying her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Peder (Kathy) Medtlie of Mequon; her daughter, Mary Beth (Gregory) Bossert of Oshkosh; a brother, Richard (Judith) Vogels; and her sister, Mary Cornell. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Kiersti (James) Gefke, Amy Medtlie, Noah Bossert, Max Bossert, Zoe Bossert, Elizabeth Bossert, and Lucy Bossert and three great grandchildren: Henry, Will, and Charlie Gefke.Pats family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Evergreen Manor, especially those at Creekview North and Garden Heights for their excellent care and kindness toward Mom and our whole family during this most difficult time.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1025 W 5th Ave Oshkosh WI 54902) with Father Matt Simonar serving as celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the Mass. Interment will follow at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. A memorial is being established by the family in lieu of flowers.
