Patty Lee Fauk lost her battle with breast cancer at Mercy Medical Center and went to heaven on November 29th, 2011 surrounded by her loving family with her husband, daughter, and sister holding her hands. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 7, 1947, the oldest child of Kenneth E. Koon and Laura Jean Holman Koon. She graduated from Omro High School in 1965. In 1974 she met Thomas A. Fauk and they were married at Christ Lutheran Church on August 23rd, 1975. Patty and Tom were blessed with a daughter Traci, joining Pats 3 sons Greg, Brian, and Patrick from a previous marriage making their family complete.Pats work life included Newbergers, Oshkosh BGosh, Home Watch Services, Copps, and Plexus. At Plexus she became a Quality Control Technician, made many friends, and thoroughly enjoyed her education in electronics. She took pride in her work and retired due to health reasons in 2009. Through the years, Patty had many interests which included ski trips, boating, camping, gardening, crafts, card making, fishing, traveling and shopping. She liked to spend most of her summer months with family and friends at her trailer at Lake of the Woods Campground. Her lifelong passion for and love of her cats led her to become a foster mother for the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. She would nurture many kittens until they were big enough to go back to the shelter and be adopted. Many times they never got back to the shelter because she just loved them so much, that they just became a part of her ever growing family. Church life and her faith were a source of strength and comfort to Pat as well as the many friendships she made as a member of Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church. She so enjoyed the Wednesday night suppers, Tuesday noon luncheons, craft classes, and Sunday worship services. She even joined a card making club, another one of her loves. Though Patty was a woman of strength and determination, much of her spirit was challenged when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. She was amazingly strong about what had happened to her, never complaining, and instead decided to do something to give back. It was her idea to start the Lets Knock Out Breast Cancer Foundation. She continued bravely to contribute and be an active participant in this cause. It looked like she had beaten the cancer until December 13th, 2010, when the breast cancer metastasized. Following that she remained strong, always answering anyone who asked, with Im fine. When faced with each new challenge, and even at the end when it became evident that the cancer was stronger than even she was, she stated one of her other famous lines, Okay, what do we do next? Pat leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Tom, her sons Gregory Kent, Brian Kent, and Patrick Kent and her daughter and best friend, Traci (Pat) Fauk-Peters. She also leaves behind her mother, Laura Jean Koon, her brother Ken A. (Lu) Koon, her sisters Debbie L. Schilder, and Sandy A. (Greg) King, 10 grandchildren, and her cats....all of them with a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Jane Fauk, her brothers-in-law Bill (Jan) Fauk, and Ron Spalding, her sisters-in law, Judy (David) Ludwig, and Chris Esselman. Also left to morn her passing are nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth E. Koon, her father-in-law Alvin Fauk, her brother-in-law Chuck Esselman, and her sister-in-law Sherry Spalding.Pats life will be commemorated during a celebration of her life at Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church, on this Saturday, December 10th, from 11 oclock in the morning until the memorial service at 2 oclock. She will be buried on Monday December 12th, at 11 oclock at Lake View Memorial Park. Her wish was part of her ashes to be scattered in her beloved West Virginia. The family plans a trip to honor her wish in the near future. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to her foundation, Lets Knock Out Breast Cancer. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Karen Gremminger and her staff and the staff of PCU 1, especially Vicky at Mercy Medical Center, for the attentive and compassionate care that was extended to Pat and the family throughout the past 2 and 1/2 years.Pat, we will forever love you and well miss you always-your family. No tears, just joy. Thats what you all have brought to me. To my husband, I love you very much and I know we will be together again someday. To my children, I am so proud of you all and never forget that I love you all no matter what. To the rest of my family, you all are the best, continue to love each other, spend much time with each other, and dont waste a moment. Please take care of each other and my cats.
