Paul And Pamela Delap

d. September 1, 2023

The world became a little dimmer on September 1, 2023 as two bright lights, Pamela Kay and Paul Allen DeLap, went out on a country road in Fond du Lac. Pam and Paul were doing what they loved most of all: “wind therapy” as they called it on their Harley.

Married 33 years, Pam and Paul grew more in love with each other each passing day. Together, they enjoyed camping, ferry rides, motorcycle rides and traveling to various ocean beaches. They raised three children and enjoyed welcoming each of their 5 grandchildren into their lives.

Pam was born on April 3, 1967 in Oshkosh to Wayne and Elizabeth Hawley. She attended Oshkosh North High School where she was involved with 4-H and working at a neighborhood grocery store called Bucky’s. She became interested in finance after working for Bank One and Winnebago County Credit Union. She worked for Adams Wealth Opportunities in Oshkosh, an affiliate of Wisconsin Financial Group (WFG). Eventually, Pam started her own company and became an independent affiliate of WFG. She was beloved by her clients because she cared about each of them as if they were her own family. Pam devoted much of her life to service in the community, advocating for people with disabilities, working with the Cerebral Palsy style show, Circles of Life and Self determination conferences, and the Oshkosh Inclusive Park playground. She served on the Board of Directors for Casa Esther, a Catholic Worker house of hospitality in Omro and for Creative Hearts, an art program for the homeless at Fr. Carr’s Place 2 B. Pam was an avid crafter and Packer’s fan.

Paul was born on February 7, 1965 in Omro, son of Ken and Kathy Toll. Paul attended Omro High School and worked with his dad’s company, Ken Toll and Son Construction. He enjoyed stock car racing as number 73 and shared his love for racing with his grandson helping out and supporting him at Kid’s Kart Club in Oshkosh. Paul drove semis across the country in his early career. Since 1991, Paul worked for Winnebago County Highway Department, where he later became foreman. He loved his work family and was devoted to the safety of Winnebago County residents, as he plowed the roads we drive on each winter. In addition, Paul started his own power sweeping business called Impressive Appearance.

As a couple, both Pam and Paul brought joy and celebration to every gathering they attended. Paul often did the grilling and Pam brought the food, decorations, and other special surprises to make it complete. Both had a silly sense of humor and laughed easily. Paul loved his cup of morning coffee on the patio, greeting the day with the birds and Pam enjoyed creating the garden. Both were known by everyone as being generous with their time, talent, and treasure.

They are survived by their three children, Laura DeLap (children Haiden, Lily, Julius and Rian) Emily DeLap (son Kingston)and Benjamin DeLap; Pam’s sisters, Gail Hawley, Bonnie (Rob) Fink, and Cristine Montalvo (Linda Swenson); Paul’s uncle Don (Tommy) Redmann; Paul’s Godmother, Brenda Marks; Paul’s sisters, Penny Gunkel, Teresa (James) Moore, Tammy (Greg)Iversen, and Tina Conboy; nieces and nephews: Dustin, Tony, Margaret, Leah, Sierra, Kendall, Austin, Keegan, Stephen, Grayson, Danielle, Dana, Shaina, Kala, Ema, Joshua, Cameron, and Caitlin. They are further survived by special friends Bob Warner and Noel Marshall, Donna King, John King, and John Galston Jr. who was like a son-in-law.

They are predeceased by Wayne and Elizabeth Hawley, Ken and Kathy Toll, Mary Shelton, beloved grandparents, and pets Toby and Pearl.

The family would like to thank the Highway Commissioner, Bob, who has been a life-long friend, Fr. Joe Mattern, and Jeff (Olie) Olson for all they have been for the DeLap family. They also want to thank Theda Clark and Thedastar for everything they did for Pam and the family after the accident.
