He was an inspiration to us in so many ways for overcoming his disability from childhood polio. Pete endured many surgeries as a child and yet was an excellent athlete and biker. He also inspired us with his generosity to Joshua Gulusi and Bridget Bagaya, highschool students in Uganda by providing school fees and encouragement. They corresponded with him weekly, loved him dearly and called him Dad.He is survived by his devoted wife Victoria (Binder) Vandenberg, Stepson Tim ORourke (finance Samantha Toland) Oshkosh; inlaws Norm and Pat Binder and their five children, Oshkosh, his mother Priscilla (Gallarin) Vandenberg, Appleton and five brothers and sisters: Patrick (Carol Hawes) Vandenberg, Racine; Ann (Tom) Warzyn, Pewaukee; Susan (Scott) Gendreau, Milwaukee; Paul (Amy) Vandenberg, Neenah; and Joan (Mike) Woldt of Oshkosh.
