Peter J. Kriz Sr.

Peter J. Kriz Sr, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at Ascension Mercy Medical Center on Friday, November 25, 2022. Peter was born to the late Robert and Johanna (Molash) Kriz on May 3, 1952. After graduating from Lourdes High School, he went on to attend Fox Valley Tech and UW-Oshkosh, eventually graduating from Marian University with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Peter loved being a dad and was very blessed to have a great family. He’ll be remembered very dearly by his wife, Linda; sons Peter (Heidi) Jr, Andy (Crystal), and Patrick (Stacy Hole); and loved being “Papa Pete” to his grandson, Evan Joseph Kriz.

Peter had many joys in life from being with his family, studying history, and woodworking; pig roasting, being in the woods, on the lake as well as boating. He loved making people laugh, taking trips, fishing, hunting, camping, meeting new people as well as playing softball. Peter was a certified scuba diver through the USDA and loved going scuba diving. In addition to his woodworking, Peter also built a three-story lighthouse and a two-story log cabin. He also enjoyed collecting things especially guns and stamps. He loved learning to use new tools and even constructed four totem poles as well as making his own fishing lures. Peter was a very accomplished Psychiatric RN as well as an advanced EMT and Nurse Preceptor. He worked for 13 years at Theda Clark Hospital in the ER, 4 years on the Psych Ward at Mercy Medical Center as well as another 13 years at the Winnebago Department of Human Services; he was once published in the journal of psychiatric nursing as an advocate for the mentally ill. Peter was always called to help people and when the situation arose, he helped save a man that went over the Neenah Dam.

Peter is further survived by his sister, Karol Everett Foster; and was very blessed to have many great friends throughout his life, too many to list although the best ones know who they are. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his sister, Kateri Karstaedt.

A memorial service for Peter will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr) on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 6:30PM. A visitation will be held from 4PM until the time service. The family asks that those attending the service and/or visitation come casually dressed or in camo.

To my family after I’m gone, please do not let me vote for a Democrat!
