Peter W. Kersztyn, 87, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born September 11, 1926 to the late Peter Sr. and Leona (Steinhilber) Kersztyn. He married Ruth Rasmussen, his wife for 42 years until she died in 1991. He later married LaVerne Ziemer February 18, 1995 and shared the remainder of his years with her. His sisters Marge Bolen and Helen Jaworski and brother George Kersztyn preceeded him in death.In addition to his wife LaVerne, Peter is survived by his sister-in-law Sue Kersztyn, one son, Dave (Barb) Kersztyn, 3 daughters, Liz (Peter) Jutras, Cathy (Jeff) Dean, Mary R Curtis; one step daughter Lori (Brian) Hedberg . Grandchildren: Jeff Kersztyn, Jenny Kersztyn, and Mike Kersztyn- all of Oshkosh; Monica (Casey) Payne Birmingham, AL, Megan Gray (friend Julie Stevens) Phoenix, AZ, Courtney (John) Moscariello Seattle, WA; Major Christopher (Grace) Dean Springboro, OH, Casey (Brad) Winchester, Madison, WI; Emily (Henry) Sanders, Madison, WI, Ben Curtis, Oshkosh; Grace and Tessa Hedburg, Edina, MN; 6 great-grandchildren- with two on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pete was a veteran of WWII and served in the Navy on submarine duty on the Pacific coast. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1944 and earned a mechanical engineering degree at Marquette University, in Milwaukee. He worked as Gear Designer at Rockwell, was Vice President-Engineering at Medalist Industries, and Director of Engineering for MerCruiser at Mercury Marine. Pete purchased Keenline Conveyor Systems in 1975 and one of his greatest joys and accomplishments was building the family business from a two man company to the successful and growing organization that it is today. He was a member of St. Raphaels Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of ColumbusA memorial service will take place Tuesday, March 25, at Konrad-Behlman (Westside), at 12 PM. Visitation will take place from 10 AM until the time of service with Rev. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. Anyone wanting to remember Pete, memorials to Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch, or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
