Phyllis J. Santner, 91, of Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born on September 7, 1921 in Beatrice, Nebraska the daughter of John H. and Josephine M. Wetzeler.She attended Lincoln High School in Milwaukee where she received a National Honor Society Medal. While in high school she met and later, on November 1, 1941, married John J. Santner. Together they raised three wonderful children. During their time in Milwaukee she enjoyed sewing, crafting and working with cut glass. She also worked at an antique store which led to her lifelong love of antiques.Phyllis and John moved to Appleton in 1967. She and John worked side by side for eleven years at Ninos Steak Roundup. After Johns retirement they enjoyed traveling and taking their treasures to various antique shows. Sadly, John passed away in 1996.She loved playing cards with her friends. She was an avid reader and puzzle master, and bingo was always a favorite pastime for her. When her vision became compromised she enjoyed books on tape. She looked forward to trips to the junk store and going to Oneida to shoot craps. Her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren.She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Joyce Winans of Topeka, KS, Gail (Ron) Meier of Appleton, and John (Paula) Santner of Omro. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jeff Santner of Milwaukee, Scott Gaylord of Milwaukee, Amber (John) Hadigan of Hyde Park, NY, Ben Bruns of Milwaukee and Rodney Bruns of Shawnee, KS; and three great grandchildren.In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, and her son-in-law, Billy Winans.A Memorial service will be held at the Unity Church of Christianity (1800 S. Lawe St, Appleton, WI) at 2:00 pm on October 10, 2012.
