Ralph M. Marhefke, 87, of Oshkosh died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh. He was born on March 11, 1923 in Oshkosh the son of Stanley and Gertrude Gronowski Marhefke. He married Marie Binder on April 10, 1948. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1956. Ralph then married Pearl Landgraf on September 6, 1958. Pearl preceded him in death on February 14, 2009 after 50 years of marriage. Ralph was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the USS Fulton, Sub Base, PH and USS Rochester as an electrician?TMs mate first class. After serving his time in the Navy Ralph started his career in 1951 as a Carpenter Apprentice with A W Jeske Construction. Ralph and his wife Pearl also owned and operated Wood?TMs Greenhouse in Oshkosh. Fulfilling a lifetime membership of 59 years in good standing with Carpenters Local 252 and 955 and earning the rank of job superintendent, eventually retiring from C R Meyer & Sons. Ralph was instrumental in construction of numerous schools, industrial and commercial facilities in the Fox Valley. Ralph enjoyed working on many projects such as building or remodeling of family homes as well as being a volunteer crew leader for the building of Little Oshkosh playground. As a member of the Good Sam Paper Valley Breakaways charter his knowledge of construction was instrumental in many volunteer projects.He was an avid camper and in his earlier years a hunter and fisherman. Ralph was a family man who truly enjoyed all children.Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wives; sons, Steve and Thomas Marhefke; sisters, Regina Knoblock, Helen Bahr, and Joan Wendt; brothers, Raymond, Clifford, and Bernard Marhefke,Survivors include sons, Mark (Renee?TM) Marhefke of Oshkosh and Jeffrey (Laura) Marhefke of Colorado; two daughters, Patricia (Douglas) Schinski and Sara (Jay) Durkee both of Oshkosh; daughters-in-law, Dawn Marhefke of Neenah and Jean Marhefke of Oshkosh; sister, Gertrude Jensen of Oshkosh, Elenore Francis of Maryville, TN, Mary Ann Huebner of Oshkosh; brother, Stanley (Mary) Marhefke Jr. of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Steve (Jessica), Heather (Scott) Matt, Jen, Nick, William, Douglas Jr., James (Marissa), Nathan, Tim, Mellanie, Cody, Danielle, Libbie, and Buttons; great grandchildren, Sam Steve, Thomas, Kaylee, Jacob, and Arianna; brother-in-law, Daryl Wendt of Medford; sister-in-law Donna Seelow of Neillsville and many nieces and nephews and friends including life long friend George Tyson A special thank you to Dr. Curtis Baltz and his staff for many years of outstanding care. Also Evergreen Manor Rehab staff for their wonderful family like care and beloved sister Mary Ann Huebner for her love and support.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St Josaphat Church (1333 Walnut St) with the Rev. Robert Stegemann officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday Visitation will be from 9:00 until the 10:30 service. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
