Rev. Floyd E. Gogolin, age 85, of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly, surrounded by family on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born in Harrold, South Dakota on July 3, 1936, a son of Walter and Ottilia Lenz Gogolin. He married Linda Gess on July 14, 1963.
He was a graduate of St. Paul's College in Concordia, Missouri and then graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1963. He served numerous Lutheran churches throughout Wisconsin during his 51 years in the ministry. He was always complimented on being a great listener, his genuine interest in people, and his ability to always make time for someone. He enjoyed listening to classical music and hymns, and spending time with his grandchildren in his workshop. After retirement, he enjoyed being a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteering at a thrift shop and Trinity's food pantry, as well as spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Linda, his son John (Jacqualine) Gogolin, his two daughters, Christine (Brian) Engebrecht and Jean (John) Thur, his grandchildren Benjamin, Katherine (Gabriel), Caleb, Nickolai, Dennis, Daniel, his great-granddaughter Clara, his brother Ronald (Judy), his sister Joyce (Ralph), and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, LaVerne (Shirley) and James (Linda).
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (370 Bowen St.) with Rev. James Pemberton officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank Rev. James Pemberton, the staff at Aurora Emergency Room, and the City of Oshkosh Paramedics.
