Richard Albert Rothe

Richard A. RA Rothe Sr., 70, of Oshkosh died on Monday, January 17, 2011. RA was born on August 25, 1940 in Oshkosh the son of Merle Slim and Ione Anderson Rothe. He married Glenna J. Taylor on December 29, 1964 in Columbus, GA.Richard retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and eight campaign ribbons. He was a life member of the D. A. V. and Past Commander of the American Legion Post in Frankfurt, Germany. RA enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Packers.Survivors include his wife, Glenna, of Oshkosh; sons Richard A. Rick (Kim) Rothe Jr. of Oshkosh, Duane (Jae) Rothe of Hawaii; a daughter, Arvilla (fianc1/2, Dan Dunaway) Sweeney, of Elsworth, WI; brothers, Ronald (Sandra) Rothe of Oshkosh, Arlin (Paula) Rothe of Oshkosh, Larry (Carol) Rothe of Virginia, Fred Rothe of Oshkosh, Darrell (Jean) Rothe of Oshkosh, Neil (Sue) Rothe of Campbellsport, Leonard (Sue) Rothe of Oshkosh; sisters, Marlene (David) Halsey of Oshkosh, Carla (Charles Skip) Jeffers of Florida, Doris (Donald) Fellwock of Campbellsport, Karen (Loren) Rangeloff of Oshkosh; and grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Andrew, Alexander, and Brandon Rothe, Mark Tyson, and Corwin Delaney. RA was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Ryan Patrick Rothe.The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) with the Rev. Jeffrey Berg officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
