Richard Clinton Bergerud

Richard C. Dick Bergerud, aged 86, of West Bend, formerly of Oshkosh and Green Bay, entered his eternal rest on June 9, 2006 at Cedar Lake Care Center in West Bend. He was born in Breckinridge, MN. on April 2, 1920 to the lateHarry and Alma (nee Moen) Bergerud. Dick grew up in Fergus Falls and Mpls., MN. where he graduated from Washburn High School in 1938. He met his future wife Roberta J. Larson in Oshkosh and they were married in Dubuque, Iowa on June 26, 1941.God blessed their marriage with three children- Karen, Thomas and James. Dick and Roberta lived most of their lives in Oshkosh and Green Bay where Dick was a representative for New York Life Insurance Co. for more than 30 years and was a member of Senior NYLIC.Dick enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, golf, fishing in Canada and playing his organ for family and friends.When Roberta, his wife of 62 years passed away on November 6, 2002, Dick moved to West Bend to be near his children.He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend.Survivors include a daughter Karen B. Gaecke and son Thomas (Ardith) Bergerud of West Bend, WI; six grandchildren: SMSgt. Christopher (fianc?e Danielle) Gaecke of Tucson, AZ.; Matthew (Heather) Gaecke of Mukwonago, WI; Seth (Penny) Bergerud of West Bend, WI; Luke Bergerud of N. Potomac, MD; Kelsey Bergerud of West Bend, WI;Jody (Kristin) Bergerud of MPLS, MN.; seven great grandchildren: Sarah and Aaron Gaecke of Tucson, AZ; Tyler and Hannah Gaecke of Mukwonago, WI; Collin Bergerud of West Bend, WI; Dylan and Kyra Bergerud of MPLS, MN; a sister, Lucille Fowler of Whitehall, PA. He is further survived by nephews, nieces as well as many other cherished relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his son James in 1972 and son-in-law William Gaecke in 2002.Funeral services in honor of Richard will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive (corner of Witzel Ave. & Lake Pointe Dr.), Oshkosh, WI at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 14th preceded by visitation at 10 AM. Officiating will be the Reverend William Lawson. Following a luncheon at the funeral home, inurnment will take place at Ellenwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to either The Threshold Inc., 600 Rolfs Ave., West Bend, WI or Stephen Ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 N. 7th Ave., West Bend, WI.The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Cove 3- Cedar Lake Care Center for their exceptional care and support.
