Richard "Dick" A. Lenz

January 4, 1934 — January 6, 2019

Richard A. Lenz, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was born to the late Rose (Nenn) Lenz in Oshkosh on January 4, 1934. He graduated Oshkosh High School in June of 1952 and began working at Chicago & Northwestern Railroad maintaining signals. He married the love of his life, Nancy Rouse, on June 18, 1955 in Oshkosh. Together they had three children, Richard, who died at birth, Michael on May 15, 1958, and Bret on April 13, 1962. While working for the Railroad, Dick became an electrician for the city of Oshkosh, a position he held for 27 years until he retired in 1994. Dick and Nancy were both members at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Dick enjoyed playing golf and was the winner of several golf tournaments at Far Vu Golf Course. He also continually golfed at Lake Shore and then at Lake Breeze. Dick was also an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed many trips with both of his sons and his good friend Paul Zuehlke. A true handyman and a jack of all trades, Dick was able to build anything and fix everything. He was truly the man to have around in any situation and took great pleasure in lending a hand whenever he could. The memories we have will help mend our broken hearts.
Dick is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Mike (Lynn) and Bret (Di) Lenz; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Alex) Werner, and Shane Lenz; and two great-grandchildren, Elsie and Annaliese, whom he adored. He is further survived by Gary (Gail) Lenz.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lenz Jr; and brother, James (Lillian) Lenz.
A private service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation-Hospice.
