Richard A. Gabbert, 87, of Oshkosh died at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah on Friday, June 8, 2007. Richard was born on May 3, 1920 in Oshkosh, the son of August and Clara Yoos Gabbert. He married Elizabeth Schulz on August 30, 1947. Richard served in the Navy for 6 years during WWII and was a member of V.F.W. Post #1908. He was the power plant supervisor at Winnebago Mental Health Institute for many years and a member of the National Association of Power Engineers. Richard was a lifetime member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ and a member of the Winneconne Masonic Lodge #186. He was a founding member of the Midnight Club. Dick enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, huntingand gardening. He got great pleasure reminiscing about his moose hunting adventures with his friend Jim Clark. Time spent with his grandchildren was very special to him. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mary (David) Schultz of Oshkosh, Linda (Michael) Gruhlke of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Christopher and Lindsay Schultz, Elizabeth (Heath) Torstveit and Morgan Gruhlke. He was preceeded in death by infant twin daughters; a brother, Clyde Gabbert and a sister, Louise Reetz. Visitation at 3:00 PM will be followed by a short memorial service at 4:00 PM on Monday June 11, 2007 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home -Eastside. Private inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. Richard was a special husband, father and grandfather...he will be missed.
