Richard L.'Dick' Knopp, 82, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, WI, with his wife and son at his side. He was born December 10, 1934 in Ironwood, MI to Frank and Margaret (Toth) Knopp and grew up in Manitowish Waters, WI. Dick married Audrey Crane on August 5, 1961 and they celebrated their 56th anniversary this year.
Dick was a master pattern maker for Allis Chalmers, Milwaukee, and for 38 years at Neenah Foundry. He was known for his pattern making skills and excellent workmanship. He won several awards for his patterns.
Along with his love for woodworking, he enjoyed his camper at Dell-Boo Park, boating, snowmobiling, and traveling with his wife - Audrey- to cat and dog shows, landscaping his yard, creating and building in his home workshop, and of course, his Green Bay Packers. He was 'Mr. Fix-it' for Audrey.
He is survived by his loving wife Audrey, son Keith 'Chris' Knopp, sister, Mary Margaret (Ernie) Scheld, nieces Susan (Rick) Halverson, Leslie Scheld, Laurie Scheld and nephew Mark (Connie) Scheld. He is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara Lovett, Gilbert Crane, Bliss 'Butch' (Maureen) Crane, Darlene Crane and Dennis Reetz, and his many relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret, nephew Tom Scheld, sister-in-law Pat Reetz, brothers-in-law Dean Crane, Adrian Crane, and David Lovett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, WI, with Fr. Tom Long officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
A private internment will take place on Monday, Dec. 18 at the Lutheran Cemetery in Neshkoro, WI.
