Bob Murphy, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2022; Bob was a true warrior as he fought against liver disease and cancer for the past two years. Bob was born in Oshkosh on June 23, 1954, son of the late John and Charlotte (West) Murphy.
He attended St. Vincent Elementary School and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1972. He nearly graduated from UW Oshkosh with a Nursing degree when he decided to join the Army and become a military police officer. In September 1982, Bob was honorably discharged and became a Corrections Officer until his retirement.
Bob loved watching Wisconsin sports, boxing, Dateline and 20/20, pumpkin and spice lates, spicy food, getting his hair cut by his niece Brittney, and most recently, walking through Menominee park on beautiful sunny days. Bob adored his nieces and nephew and thoroughly missed his mother Charlotte who preceded him in death in August 2021.
Bob is survived by his sister Joanne (William) Fenrich and brother Patrick (Anne) Murphy, sister-in-law Diane Murphy, nieces Keeana Murphy, Brittney (Jimmie) Fowler and their children Jimmie and Reggie; Lacey (Nick) Beaman and their children Murphie and Bria; and nephew Alec (Katelyn) Fenrich.
Preceding him in death were his parents John and Charlotte Murphy, brother James 'Murph' Murphy, and nephews Brian and Craig Van Airsdale.
Bob was known for his very dry sense of humor and his quick wit; he loved talking sports and could name most every player on all the Wisconsin teams. Yelich, Giannis and Rogers were just a few of his favorites!
As his nieces and nephew would say.....to really know Bob was to love him.
We would like to thank the staff at Aurora ICU and Dr. Eric Duwell for not only being his doctor but for being his friend.
A small private service will be held.
