Robert Brandt Bob Fick passed away October 26.Fick was born to Louis and Dorothy Fick July 18, 1925 in Hartley, Iowa. Fick graduated from Hartley High School, attended Northwest Missouri State University in the Navys V-12 program, and served in the Navy during World War II. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in civil engineering he began his professional career as a municipal engineer in Janesville, Wisconsin. He worked for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation for thirty-seven years, including serving as district manager in Stevens Point (1961-67), division manager in Sheboygan (1967-70), and division manager in Oshkosh (1970-89).Fick was an active member of the Oshkosh community. He served on the board of directors of Mercy Hospital and had a commitment throughout his adult life to the YMCA. He volunteered his energy to Evergreen Retirement Community, the Boys and Girls Club, and Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church among numerous organizations and projects. Fick also served the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce and industrial development in Oshkosh. In 1990 Fick received the Frederick Pearce Award for exceptional contributions to the economic vitality of Wisconsin. He was also honored as one of Wisconsins Ten Most Admired Senior Citizens in 1997. Ficks avocations included a tree farm in central Wisconsin, travel and golf.Fick is survived by Joyce, his wife of sixty-two years. Son Robert Junior and Mary (Reichardt) live in Portola Valley, California. Robert Junior and Mary have two daughters, Sarah (New York, New York) and Catherine (San Francisco, Calif.). Son Thomas and Diane (Jens) of Fort Atkinson, Wis. have four daughters, Martha (Tim Duffy, Portland, Ore.), Amanda (Madison, Wis.), Emily (Boston, Mass.) and Rachel (Atlanta, Georgia). There is one great granddaughter, Grace Duffy.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church,1174 Algoma Boulevard in Oshkosh, with a reception to follow. Because of his long affiliation with the YMCA friends are invited to meet with the family and celebrate Bobs life Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the YMCA at 3303 West 20th Avenue in Oshkosh.Memorials can be made to the Oshkosh YMCA or Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church.
