Robert Canter, age 81, formerly of Union & Madison, NJ passed away on April 9, 2018. He was born on November 20, 1936 to the late Louis and Minnie (Berlly) Canter in Newark, NJ.
After serving our country in the Army, Bob started his professional career at Padula Construction Co. in Newark, as their controller. In 1969 he started his own successful CPA firm in Madison.
Bob was an avid reader, passionate sports fan and proud member of the American Legion Post 43 in Madison. He enjoyed bowling, going to the track, the casino and socializing with his clients. You could often find Bob at the Palm Restaurant in NYC with family and friends.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Barbara (David) Ports, and Lisa (Kevin) Hunter; sons: Leslie Canter, Jason Canter; George (Sharon) Muench, and Steven (Sharon) Muench. His grandchildren: Julia (Fiancé: Adam Spencer) Ports, Sara Ports, Mitchell & Alec Hunter, Matthew, Emily & Megan Muench, Ryder Muench and great grandson: Bennett Spencer, along with his first wife Bernice Canter, his second wife Colette Guerriero and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Ln. Iselin, NJ 08830 with Rabbi Ellie Miller officiating. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Bob’s Life at Rocco’s Tuscany Bar and Grill 30 Cook Plaza Dr., Madison NJ beginning at 3:30.
