Robert Charles Strand

Robert C. Strand, age 88, of Oshkosh, WI., passed away on September 4. He was born on September 22, 1925 in New Jersey. He married Joan Brown and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2013.He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII. Bob earned a PhD. in organic chemistry in 1963 and worked as a chemist until his retirement in 1989. He brought his love of aircraft into his retirement earning a degree in aircraft structural repair in 1997, and spent over 9000 volunteer hours restoring aircraft at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson AZ. He loved to travel, hike, and hear and tell questionably funny jokes.He is survived by his children Robert (Gregg Siegel) Strand of New York City, Barbara Strand of Oshkosh, Melissa (Jim) Debus of Ft. Mill, S.C. six grandchildren Alexander Kropp, Kevin Kropp, Adam Kropp, McKenna Debus, Tanner Debus, Brennika Debus, and a special niece Karen Heston.Burial will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank the staff at Northpoint Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Generations Hospice, and the staff at Affinity Medical Group.
