Robert (Bob) Dega passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Bob was born in Milwaukee, WI. on August 13, 1928, the son of Alois and Alma Raths Dega. During his teenage years, Bob spent many summers in Oshkosh at his grandparents (Albert and Minnie Raths) home where he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and selling golf balls. When he was a junior in high school he moved to his grandparents home and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1947. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952, during the Korean War. After his discharge, Bob returned to Oshkosh and met the love of his life , Marlene Hoger. They were married in 1953, and moved to Milwaukee where Bob attended and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Bob and his family then returned to Oshkosh where he began his own business, Degas TV Service. Bob later joined with Carl Stearns in the operation of Dega/Stearns TV Sales and Service until his retirement in 1990. Bob was a member of the American Legion and the Last Mans Club.Bob enjoyed many years golfing at Lakeshore Municipal Golf Course. He was proud to have gotten a hole in one on old number 16. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating . He loved the time he spent with his family and friends on his houseboat, The Humdinger. In his younger days, Bob also enjoyed hunting for ducks and geese. Photography was one of Bobs favorite hobbies and later, he did all of his shooting with his camera instead of his gun. He had a collection of many cameras and loved viewing his videos and hundreds of pictures of his family, sunsets, and adventures. After their retirement, Bob and Marlene spent many winters in North Fort Myers, FL, where they enjoyed the warm weather and the many friends they made there through the years.Bob will be sadly missed by his friends and loving family, especially by his wife, Marlene, daughters Vicki Christman, and Laurie (Tim) Grable, son, Jim (Dawn) Dega, grandchildren Matt Dega, Ann Dega, Kurt Grable, and Katherine Grable, and sister Geraldine Seraphine. He was preceded in death by his parents and young son, David.Bobs family would like to thank Roberta and Laura from the Visiting Nurses Association for the compassionate care we recieved during his illness.Funeral services will be held on Friday November 7, 2008 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. Oshkosh. Visitation will begin at 4:00 until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 pm.
