Robert G. Witt, age 91, of Oshkosh, died Sunday February 3, 2019 at Park View Health Center. He was born on September 27, 1927 in Oshkosh the son of Clarence and Mildred Guetzkow Witt. On November 26, 1954 he married Nellie Hoffman. She preceded him in death in 2012.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Military serving in both the Marines and Naval Reserves. Bob was a man of many interests. One of his first jobs in his teens was in a bicycle shop which led to Harleys and auto mechanics. In the 1950’s he opened Bob’s Shell in Lyons Park, IL. In the the early 1960’s he reopened Shamrock Village & Flamingo Restaurant in Ft. Pierce, FL. In 1964 he moved to Oshkosh and opened Park Ave Tavern. From there he sold used cars and eventually bought Guetzkow’s Antiques and Used Furniture. After the land was bought by an oil company he worked at Oshkosh Truck until his retirement.
He is survived by his children Debra(Mark) Montag, Cary(Karen) Witt, Robert(Heidi) Witt, four grandchildren Ryan(Cassi) Michelle, Amy(Andy), Andrew(Tiffany), and four great-grandchildren Alyvia, Alaska, Owen and Preston.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister Lorriane Woodard.
Funeral services for Robert will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lake View Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral which will be followed by full military honors. Emtombment will take place next to his wife.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established
