Robert Joseph Collins

Robert Joseph (Ozzie) Collins, 92, of Oshkosh died Wednesday December 1, 2010 at Evergreen Retirement Community-Creekview. He was born March 7, 1918 in Oshkosh a son of the late Cornelius and May Anna (Schneider) Collins. Ozzie married Virginia Persick on September 18, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2007. Ozzie graduated from St. Peters High School and was on their basketball team. He lived in Minneapolis for 50 years and worked for the Gamble Skogmo Co. Ozzie was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church. He loved watching football especially the Packers, Vikings, and Badgers. He also enjoyed watching the Brewers. He is survived by two daughters Cynthia (Dennis) George of Aurora, IL and Patricia Collins of Oshkosh, a son Michael (Denise) Collins of Atlanta, GA, a grandson Nicholas Collins of Atlanta, GA, and a sister Margaret Wood. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary McKowski and a brother Louis Collins. A memorial service for Ozzie will be held Friday December 3, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Rev. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the service. Inurnment will be held in Riverside Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Roberts name. Ozzies family would like to thank, Judy Reindires, Dennis Meszaros, the staffs at Aurora Medical Center, Aurora Hospice, and Evergreen Retirement Community for all of their care and help.
