Robert K. Nelson

Robert K. Nelson, 71 of Oshkosh, died Friday October 12, 2007 at his home. He was born in Oshkosh on June 15, 1936 a son of Kenneth and Christabelle Lamphier Nelson. On December 3, 1955 he married Nancy Douthitt in Weisbaden, Germany. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until his retirement in 1973 as a NCO Master Sergeant. He was then employed by the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles and was a rural route carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of the VFW Post 1230, the DAV, and was an avid sportsman, and fisherman. His primary concern was the care of his home and family.He is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Nelson, a son, Michael (Lynn) Nelson, and a daughter, Susan Nelson all of Oshkosh; two sisters, Carol Mae (James) Crahen of Oshkosh, and Jane Jeschke Nelson of Bimidji, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. Raymond Nelson.Robert will be laid to rest on Wednesday October 17, 2007 at the Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh. Full military honors will be conducted at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside and at the cemetery with VFW Past State Commander Jerry Wenniger officiating beginning at 11:00 AM. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Blaha for his care of our husband and father. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations made to the VFW Post 1230 or to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Blaha for his care of our husband and father.
