Robert Lee Conroy

Robert L. Conroy, 87, of Oshkosh died Sunday March 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1918, a son of Frank and Nellie (Potter) Conroy. Robert married Anne Ford on March 31, 1945 in St. Andrews, Scotland. She preceded him in death in 1992. Bob graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1935; he earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1940. He served his Country in the US Army during WWII in London, England with the R.A.F. Upper Air Observation Weather Station. Bob worked as President/Owner of the Conroy Insurance Agency, retiring in 1980 after four decades. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, he served as a Senior Warden, and he administered the Chalice in the Eucharist for more than 40 years. Bob was affiliated with the United Way, where he served on the board, and the Chamber of Commerce, where he was an Ambassador. He belonged to the Noon Kiwanis Club from December 1949 until the time of his death. He was a life long member of the Last Mans Club of WWII; he also delivered Meals on Wheels for 22 years. Bobs passions were golf, traveling, and working in the Trinity Episcopal Churchs beautiful gardens.Bob is survived by his son, John of Rolla, MO, his daughter, Anne (Robert) Wegener of Daphne, AL; a grand daughter, Stacie (Daniel) Benson of Menomonee Falls, two great-grand children, Edward and Caroline Benson, nephew, Stephen (Lucy) Taylor of Oshkosh, and a brother-in-law, Donald Helstrom. He was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Connie Helstrom.Funeral service for Robert will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church (311 Division St) with Fr. Steven Powers officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the hour of service. A private memorial service will also be held in Daphne, AL. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
