Robert Bob Sonnleitner, age 72, of Oshkosh passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Bella Vista. He was born on March 17, 1943 in Oshkosh, the son of the late Otto and Julia (Reischl) Sonnleitner. He was united in marriage to Barbara Boeder on June 26, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Their marriage was blessed with three sons.Bob graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961. Many knew Bob for his friendly and kind personality while he made his career working with people as an auto body repairman and body shop manager in Oshkosh. Bob started his career at Gibson's, but then transitioned to Cobra Auto Body, Purath Pontiac Buick, Bergstrom's and finally Tony's Autobody. Bob's greatest passion beyond his family was his love for airplanes. Bob was an avid model aviation enthusiast. He was a lifelong member of the Winnebago RC flyers and AMA. Bob also enjoyed donating his time as a docent at the EAA Museum where not only was he able to share his passion, but also had the honor of helping restore Steve Wittman's Bonzo. Bob is survived by his three sons: Paul (Kari) Sonnleitner of Hopewell Junction, New York; Dr. Michael (Amy) Sonnleitner of Menasha; and Matthew (Theresa) Sonnleitner of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren: William, Allie, Annika, Luke, Sydney, Gianna and Mya; brothers and sisters: Barry Ott of Michigan, James (Sue) Sonnleitner, Donald (Diane) Sonnleitner, Andy (Christina) Sonnleitner, Allen (Nancy) Sonnleitner all of Oshkosh. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara who passed April 6, 2015. Private services will be held and inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh.
