Robert Steven Koss

Robert Jabber S. Koss Sr., age 77, of Oshkosh went to his eternal home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. He was born on October 14, 1933 in Oshkosh the son of Steven and Arcile (Luker) Koss. On February 6, 1954 he married Nancy Kittoe in Oshkosh.Robert was a 1951 graduate of Oshkosh High School. He enjoyed traveling and dining out with family and friends. He always had a story to tell and enjoyed making people laugh and smile. He was an avid sports fan and he especially loved watching all of his children and grandchildren play various sports. He played baseball on the Oshkosh Merchants Team and Oshkosh Giants. Robert coached the Oshkosh Legion 1957 State Championship team and played on many softball teams including Reds Pizza and Wertsch Motors. In September of 1986, he was inducted as a player and a coach into the Oshkosh Softball Hall of Fame, being the fifth member. As owner of Jabbers Bar, he sponsored and coached many mens and womens championship softball teams. Later, he worked in automotive sales at Mueller Chrysler Plymouth Lincoln Mercury and Purath Pontiac.Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy; daughters, Kathleen (Ralph) Gantner, Cheryl (Thomas) Freiberg, Paula (Peter) Wenhardt all of Oshkosh, and Lisa (Michael) Rhyner of Omro; granddaughters, Angela (Justin) Abbott, Tara Schwertfeger, Brittany and Emily Wenhardt; grandsons, Gregory (Vanessa) Gantner, Garry (Frances) Gantner, Samuel(Barb)Koss, Seth Koss and Anthony Koss, Ryan Koss, Tyler Rhyner and Brett Rhyner, and Nick Wenhardt; great grandchildren, Haley Koss, Ethan Abbott, and Chloe Jowett. Robert is also survived by his brother, Daniel (Elaine) Koss of Brookfield and sister, Julaine Julie (Green) Wagner of Oshkosh, and brother & sister in law, Russell and Janice Monroe of Wautoma. Godchildren, Kristin Wagner Smith and Anthony Koss. He is further survived by many special nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his in laws, Leroy and Eleanor Kittoe, his son, Robert Koss Jr. on May 11,2011; grandsons, Kent Freiberg and Matthew Freiberg; brother, Steven Koss; sister-in-law, Florence Polly Koss; and a niece, Michelle Westphal.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside). Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
