Robert Vierck

January 21, 1924 — July 12, 2018

Robert “Bob” Vierck passed away on July 12, 2018 in Oshkosh, WI.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 36 years, Judith (nee Granberg) Vierck; sister Carolyn Martin; 7 children: Vicki Larkin, Scott (Kathy) Vierck, Steve (Loretta) Vierck, Judy Goffo, Bruce (Jill) Vierck, Mark (Tammy) Vierck and Dave (Joane) Vierck; 3 stepchildren: Robert (Ella) Peterman, Perry (Laurie) Peterman, and Debra (Steven) LaStofka; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Max William John Vierck and Laura (Stearns) Vierck and his sister Gertrude “Gerchie” Rule.
Born in Beloit, WI in 1924, Bob’s 94 years of life were characterized by a love of family, a joyous appreciation for the outdoors, and a belief, like many of the greatest generation, in hard work and sacrifice.

Bob enlisted in the Air Force in 1943, trained as a navigator and attained the rank of 2nd lieutenant. After World War II, he became a top salesman for Warner Clutch & Brake in their Chicago territory before making the leap in 1965 to start his own manufacturer’s rep business – R.W. Vierck & Associates, where he worked tirelessly, clocking millions of miles driving to customers across Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois, until retiring at the age of 80. He found time to serve as chairman of the board of school district #47 in Crystal Lake, IL.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, who took solace in fishing quiet back-woods trout streams, found energy in stalking Wisconsin cornfields to hunt game birds, and who accepted the life-long challenge of “a good walk ruined” by applying his innate competitive spirit to the game of golf. His kinship with the outdoors was deep, and he could accurately identify the most arcane species of wild bird even after macular degeneration faded away his eyesight. He was a fanatical Packer and Badger fan.

Bob loved his wife, loved spending time with his large family, and loved his church, New Life Community, where he and Judy were congregants for many years.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at New Life Community Church, 3250 W. 9th Avenue, Oshkosh. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the service. If you wish to make a donation in Bob’s name, contributions to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, or the Wisconsin Council for the Blind and Visually Impaired, would be appreciated.

The family would like to express its appreciation to Valley VNA, Park View Health Center, and Ascension Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
