Robert Zentner

April 3, 1932 — December 15, 2012

Robert Henry a.k.a. Bob, Old Man, Grandpa Zentner passed into eternal life on Saturday December 15, following an OWI caused collision. He was born on April 3, 1932 in Oshkosh the son of Harold and Mildred Draves Zentner. He grew up in the town of Black Wolf and lived there his entire life. He attended Howlett, South Park and Oshkosh High School graduating in 1950. He married Phyllis Irene Abraham on May 12, 1951. He attended Diesel Mechanics School in Chicago. He was a proud life member of U.A.W. Local Union # 578, being employed at Oshkosh Truck Corporation for 42 years. He returned for 5 more years testing trucks with his CDL.Bob was an avid trout stream fisherman and sheepshead player (especially during those noon breaks). He was a scout master of Troop 57 of the Boy Scouts of America, taking his uniformed scouts to both summer and winter camps for a number of years. Bob and Phyllis were enthusiastic polka dancers for over 30 years, even traveling to Arizona and Nevada for festivals several times. They were longtime members of We Love to Dance and Fox Valley Polka Review. About 10 years ago they achieved their goal of visiting all 50 states, plus traveling to Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, including the Luther tour and Oberammergau, the Holy Land and Egypt. For their 50th wedding anniversary Robert and Phyllis took their family on an Alaskan Cruise. Preceding Bob in death were his parents, brothers Howard(Mary), Harlan, parents-in-law Eddie and Lenora Abraham, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Norman Koplitz, Jarrett and Adeline Roberts and Hilbert and Elaine Albrecht. Surviving Robert are Phyllis, his wife and girlfriend of 61 years, 7 months and 3 days, his daughter and son-in-law Patti and Lee Karlgaard, his son and daughter-in-law Randy and Mary Zentner, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Travis and Kim Karlgaard, grandsons John and Adam Plier, great-granddaughters Raven Plier and Sydnie Kruse-Plier, Godchild and nephew Roger Zentner, sister Jean Wilde, sisters-in-law Arlene Zentner and Ruth Koplitz, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. A celebration of Bobs life will be held on Thursday December 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church (491 Old Oregon Rd.) with the Rev. Wayne Derber officiating. FOLLOWING THE SERVICE A TIME OF VISITATION WILL BE HELD AT THE CHURCH UNTIL 5 P.M. Per Roberts request no flowers please. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
