Roger Paul Rose

Roger Paul Rose (R.P.), age 84 of Oshkosh, passed away on June 16, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on December 26, 1929, the son of Roy and Esther (Olesen) Rose. He married Beverly Mundinger on October 11, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They were married for 55 years and 8 months.Roger was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Roger enlisted August 28, 1948 at Parrs Island, S.C. He was promoted to Corporal on December 19, 1950, Sergeant on May 28, 1951 and Staff Sergeant on June 1, 1952. He was in motor transport, Marine Air Station at Cherry Point, N.C. After his honorable discharge on August 1, 1952, Roger served the Oshkosh community as a police officer.Roger was proud to be a Green Bay Packer stock holder as well as his participation on sturgeon patrol. He was a member of the American Legion Post 70, the Marine Corps League, EAA, the Oshkosh Auxiliary Police and many, many clubs. Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly, two sisters-in-law, Carol Soffa and Donna Draves and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Alwin and Esther Mundinger, five brothers-in-law, Milton Mundinger, David Mundinger, Henry Winkler, Edwin Soffa and Dale Draves, one sister-in-law, Arlene Winkler.A service with full military and police honors will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (370 Bowen St. Oshkosh), the Rev. Kelly Leary presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial has been established.The family wishes to thank the ER and ICU at Mercy Medical Center for their care, and their nephew, Chad Gutche and friends, Joe Youngbauer and Jim Jewell.
