Roman Sweetalla entered into eternal life at his home surrounded by his family on December 2, 2013. He fought a courageous battle for almost a year never giving up his dream to come home one more time. His illness took a lot from him but never broke his will to live until the end. When he decided for himself that he was ready to be with The Lord, he chose not to continue his treatments knowing he would be taken from us. He returned home on November 26th to be with his family. During his final days he was surrounded by his wife, Joan and his two daughters, Nicole and Sandra. Together they gave him what was to be his last supper on Thanksgiving Day. They cared for him together and gave him all the comfort he deserved in his final days. The highlights of his days were the visits from Pastor Dorn, whom he always responded to until the end. He was showered with kisses and hugs by everyone around him including his Grandson Christian who loved his Papa very much. Roman was born to Eva and Edward Sweetalla on October 5, 1937. He graduated high school and entered the Army National Guard in 1958. Roman took great pride in his years of service. He was employed at various places but the one he was most proud of was his twenty-nine years of service at UW-Oshkosh. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was an avid fan of the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan; his son, Scott (Cori) Sweetalla; daughters Annette Honsa, Judy (Mike) Carnes, Sandra (DeWayne) Jewson, and Nicole (Gary) Baumann. Eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also further survived by one sister Ruby Folske and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Roman was proceeded in death by his parents; twin sons Mark and Michael; two sisters, Donna Nicolaison and Lenora Folske. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Pastor Dorn for helping Roman to complete his journey peacefully and to Debbi Wegner for bringing him into Roman's life.
