Ronald Henry Ashenfelter

Ronald Henry Ashenfelter, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, September, 27, 2016. Ron was born to the late William and Dorothy (Chartrand) Ashenfelter on February 18, 1927 in Racine, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from high school. After he finished his service, he married the love of his life, Wanda Walker, on August 21, 1948. Together, they had five children. Ron attended Ripon College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was an independent thinker and displayed an uncanny ability to distill essential information from complex sets of data. He worked at Mercury Marine Corp. and retired as Director of Purchasing. Ron and Wanda were members at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church.Ron and Wanda lived in various states and avidly enjoyed exploring new adventures while traveling throughout the United States. He enjoyed reading historical novels, playing golf, touring national parks, hiking, and using his carpentry and engineering expertise to create solutions. Ron is survived by his brother John Jack Ashenfelter, Milton, WI; four sons: Daniel (Deborah) Ashenfelter, Fond du Lac, WI; Bennett (Trish) Ashenfelter, Apple Valley, CA; Robert (Patricia) Ashenfelter, Jeffersonville, IN; David (Sammy) Ashenfelter, North Fond du Lac, WI; daughter, Nancy (Mark) Timm, Ft. Atkinson, WI; and seven grandchildren: Heath, Heather, Nick, Chris, Daniel, Mandy, Sean; great grandchildren: Ava, Charlotte, and Iren; sister/brother in-law, Colleen and Richard Wallis.Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; sister, Elaine Bruce; two brothers, Bruce and James Ashenfelter; and sister/brother in-law, Shirley and Don Olander.Memorial services for Ron will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Westside on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service. Inurnment will be privately held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park, Racine, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
